Research Profile

At the chair, a team of young researchers conducts research on topics that tie in with Professor Kleinlein’s research focus. Moreover, subjects concerning the history of international law, global public goods, or questions related to the crisis of the rule of law in the European Union are also possible research topics.

A guiding idea of this research is that global challenges such as climate change, migration, increasing inequality or the instability and proneness to crisis of the economy – especially in view of a widespread globalisation fatigue – require in-depth knowledge of the relevant international law and its interplay with European Union law and domestic law, both for the analysis of problems and the development of reform proposals.

In our research colloquium for graduate and advanced students, we discuss work in process, the work process itself, and fundamental and topical texts. Participants are specifically trained in the scholarly techniques of writing, lecturing and presenting at conferences. The research colloquium focuses on the internationalisation of public law, public international and EU law which are of wide-ranging relevance. Doctoral students receive support in their interdisciplinary research and in developing international networks.
