The degree course "International Legal Studies" merges the traditional German legal education with a comprehensive training in the law of England and Wales. Parallel matriculation in the course "Rechtswissenschaft (1. Juristische Prüfung/Staatsexamen" is highly recommended. The course starts every winter semester.
Graduates will be able to continue their education as a barrister or solicitor in England and Wales, as the degree from this course fulfils the requirements for the academic stage of training set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Bar Standards Board (BSB).
German law studies cover Civil Law, Public Law and Criminal Law. Finishing the course will provide students with all curricular requirements to apply for the first state exam (1. Juristische Prüfung) in the state of Thuringia.
English law will be taught as required by the SRA and the BSB. The different areas of English Civil Law, Public Law and Criminal Law will be taught on a level equal to that of English universities.
The course also includes one year of studies or internships abroad.
