The School of Law offers a postgraduate course of legal studies with the degree of Magistra/Magister Legum (LL.M.), in which students with law degrees from other countries can participate. The purpose of the master's program is to familiarize foreign students with the basics of the German legal system and to give them the opportunity to study one area of law in more depth. The program extends over two semesters. Requirements for admission to the program are a law degree from a foreign country that corresponds in its requirements to the German law degree and a sufficient command of written and spoken German. The graduate program is without any tuition charges. Each student will be mentored by one professor at the School of Law.

| The Program | ||||||
|
The master's program consists of at least 12 hours of classes per week. In the first semester, students will be taught the basics of civil law, public law, or criminal law. Each student must attend classes in one of these areas. In the second semester, students must attend an additional 12 hours of classes per week. Students select these courses in consultation with their advisors. Students must pass examinations in all of these classes. The program concludes with a master's examination, which consists of a master's thesis and an oral examination. For further information, please click here.
